Dr. Gary Fitzgerald Chiropractic Doctor
Dr. Gary Fitzgerald wanted to be a chiropractor from the age of eight. He began his studies in his home country with a BSc from University College Dublin in Ireland. After this he enrolled in Europe’s oldest and most respected chiropractic school (Anglo European College of Chiropractic), where after a further 5 years of university study he graduated with a BSc in Chiropractic (with 1st class honours) and also a MSc in Chiropractic Sciences. During his time in chiropractic school his thesis on how the birth process affects children was both published and presented at the World Federation of Chiropractic Symposium. In addition to this, he graduated with the Flavio Grillo prize for the most clinically competent intern in his graduating class.
After graduating he has continually sought to improve his knowledge base by travelling to the most recent seminars and conferences which has led to further experience and certification in techniques such as Applied Kinesiology, Sacro Occipital Technique (SOT), Thompson Drop, Gonstead, BEST, Total Body Modification, Natural Healing, Torque Release Technique, Activator Methods and the chiropractic care of children and pregnant mothers. Dr. Gary has also been awarded an International Chiropractic Sports Science Diploma (ICSSD).
A key concept that Dr. Gary imparts to his patients is education. He strongly believes that, along with having the clinical skills to know where, when and how to treat as well as not treat, it is imperative that the patient understand the benefits of a healthy spine and nervous system and that only by changing previous bad habits such as posture, diet and exercise can the person achieve long term changes and prevent future problems. After all, the origin of the word “doctor” is teacher.
Testament to this approach is the fact that patients will travel from around the Middle East and have even traveled from the rest of Asia, Europe, Australia and South America to personally see Dr. Gary. Some previous patients from Ireland have even continued their care with Dr. Gary after he moved to Dubai. He also receives referrals from GPs, Neurologists, Orthopedists, Paediatricians, Nurses, Physiotherapists and even fellow Chiropractors on a continual basis and has appeared on TV and in newspapers both in the Middle East and in Europe as well as lecturing at the largest medical conference in the Middle East, Arab Health.
Dr. Gary’s patients come in all shapes and sizes, from newborn babies with colic to office workers with headaches to older people with arthritis. His patients in Europe and Dubai have also included professional sports people (e.g. professional football teams, Olympic athletes, professional golfers etc.), international entertainers, government ministers and royalty. He has been an official chiropractor at the Dubai Rugby 7’s (2006, 2007,2008 and 2009), the Dubai Half Marathon and the Gulf Gaelic Games. He is also the official chiropractor for the Habtoor Polo team and is one of less than 30 chiropractors worldwide (and the only one from the Middle East) to be selected as part of the medical team at the World Games in Taiwan, 2009.
Dr. Gary is a founding member of the Emirates Chiropractic Association, and is also a member of the Emirates Medical Association and the International Federation of Sports Chiropractic. He is licensed with the regulatory bodies in the UAE in addition to the New South Wales Chiropractic Regulatory Board (Australia) and the New Zealand Chiropractic Board and the General Chiropractic Board in the UK.

A Chiropractor is an expert in the field of alternative spinal healthcare and has extensive knowledge of the musculoskeletal system. Chiropractors make use of manual therapies like manipulation and adjustment of the spine, the soft tissues and other body joints to cure your ailments. In addition to the therapies, the treatment procedure also includes lifestyle and health counseling along with some exercises to benefit your musculoskeletal system.
Chiropractors are of two types – straight chiropractors and mixer chiropractors. Often believed as two professions clubbed into one, the ‘straight’ chiropractors firmly adhere to the ancient metaphysical philosophies and principles which state that the vertebral subluxation creates interference in the functioning of innate intelligence through the nervous system and is the primary cause of several diseases. These chiropractors mainly concentrate on correcting vertebral subluxation through spinal column adjustment and do not use any other forms of therapy. The ‘mixer’ chiropractors are more liberal and they mix medical, osteopathic and chiropractic therapies to provide cure to different kinds of ailments. The mixer chiropractors believe that vertebral subluxation is just one of the causes of diseases and they include several mainstream medical practices and techniques like massage, exercise, moist heat, and ice packs along with conventional physical therapies like acupuncture, homeopathy, nutritional supplements, herbal remedies and biofeedback in their treatment. With a broader outlook and patient oriented treatment procedures closer to the mainstream, Chiropractor Regina provides you holistic care and treatment.
A health care profession that focuses on disorders of the musculoskeletal system and the nervous system. Those that use chiropractic care regularly recommend it highly for a variety of reasons. Chiropractic is one of the safest therapies available if you are suffering from any neuromusculoskeletal issues such as back, neck, joint, or head pain. Chiropractic is done on an outpatient basis and has easy recovery, often less than 24 hours of minimal soreness. Consider this in comparison to the recovery of surgery.
After any surgical procedure, the body needs time to repair tissues damaged during the surgery so that the body can return to normal. Surgical recovery is a process that can take time, often long periods of time requiring medication and bed rest. In fact, pushing yourself too hard after surgery will cause setbacks and make your recovery time longer.
Chiropractic, on the other hand, has limited recovery time. At most, chiropractic patients may feel some mild soreness in the area of the manipulation. This soreness is typically gone in a matter of hours, not days or weeks as with surgery. Additionally, surgical patients that are older, out of shape, overweight, or generally in poor health will take far longer to heal and be ready for every day life. Although different factors will dictate how quickly you are pain free, the ability to resume your lifestyle happens quickly with most patients, often with as little as one manipulation.
